The E3 2008 debacle
The 3 big powers have ended their conferences. Its all done, and we’re now on the way through the daily E3 shows for the next few days. So after a ton of news, dissapointing and truly shocking, its now time to give a wrap up for the 3 conferences.
Overall, my opinion for the Microsoft front, was dissapointing. To be honest, looking at Avatars, I can only say it is a complete rip off. Lips? I cue Singstar. There is seriously nothing that I find is original in this front. And then there’s the FF13 shocker. its fine though. Really it is, and to the Sony fanboys at the states about it, you should really take it in a bigger prospect, I’ll explain later.
For Nintendo’s front, fanboys are not cheering at all. neither are fans. Wii Sports resort is nice, so is Wii Music, but honestly, this is too much original that the fans want their franchises in. In an honest note, the boys would want to have their new Mario (Again in fact). But the best part somehow comes days later after the announcements. Pikmin is coming. Dead Rising has so far been confirmed at the Jap side. So I do expect lots more to come. I do wish they said something about Disaster or Project Hammer. In fact, where the heck is Mad World?
For Sony, actually, I do believe they perform the best this year. Sony took it for us, despite lots of delays on Home, yet I find the Little Big Planet presentation to be nifty and cute. The good thing was an increase on HDD space, at $399. At double storage, they got it right. Yet, sad news is that the original BC able 80GB, will also be discontinued. So, find the MGS 4 limited edition one fast before they all run out. it seems somehow that even after the calamity going on in the FF13 shocker, the Sony would probably clinch this one and make themselves the best.
So, to put it into prospect, the battle now is no longer on the exclusitivity between the PS3 and the 360, but it is now a war of nations. No kidding. the 360 is already dead at Japan, so it wasn’t surprising to know that the 360 version of FF13 won’t be playable there. Yet after seeing how Square-Enix might have to compress lots of things for the 360 version, its safe to say that the PS3 guys will still get the whole cake to eat on. The emphasis is still on the PS3, so fanboys shouldn’t have to worry. Yet I like the fact that 360 is also getting 13, but maybe perhaps on a lower scale of things. The winner of this whole war will only be the nation that sold the most copies of games, not the version. Version doesn’t seem to matter anymore, only the people who want the game will go at it.
Sounds like a healthy war, that have dragged to be a war of nations. may the best front win. owh, and Nintendo, you still made my day. "leave it to me" by Shigeru Miyamoto is classic.
